In 2019, it was found that ** percent of French victims of sexual violence as minors had been sexually assaulted (e.g., touched) and ** percent had been raped.
In addition, the proportion of victims of sexual abuse who told someone about their abuse was relatively high. Indeed, it was found that nearly ** percent of victims of child abuse told someone about being sexually assaulted. In half of the cases, the person in question was a parent or a friend.
