A global tourist hotspot

Morocco holds the second-highest position for both international tourist arrivals in Africa, and tourism receipts, with a value of **** billion U.S. dollars recorded in 2023. The country's main attraction lies in its cultural history, landscape, and ancient Roman and Islamic sites. International tourist spending in Morocco dropped to ** percent in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the restriction imposed. 

Tourism's financial footprint

²Ñ´Ç°ù´Ç³¦³¦´Ç'²õÌýtravel and tourism sector's contribution to GDP dropped in 2020 to *** billion U.S. dollars as a result of the pandemic. However, the figure increased to around **** billion U.S. dollars the next year, reflecting a post-pandemic recovery. Moreover, the sector's share of contribution to Morocco's GDP was **** percent in 2023 and is expected to reach percent by 2026.
