Supplementary notes
The e-service market segment online food delivery includes user and sales development for two delivery service types providing cooked meals: (1) Restaurant to consumer delivery and (2) Platform to consumer delivery. Sales include the gross goods value, which is defined as total revenue for goods which are charged by the delivery service. In total online food delivery comprises meals and dishes prepared in advance for direct consumption. The restaurant to consumer market segment comprises delivery of meals which are prepared directly by restaurants. The order may be completed through a platform (e.g. Delivery Hero, Just Eat) or directly on a restaurant website (e.g. Domino’s). In the platform to consumer delivery segment those online delivery services are considered which provide customers with dishes from partner restaurants, which do not necessarily offer takeout deliveries themselves. In this case, the platform additionally takes over the delivery process. Orders made by phone, unpacked dishes for immediate consumption and non-cooked product deliveries are not included (e.g. HelloFresh).
