According to a survey conducted on how people are coping with the skyrocketing prices of petrol and diesel in the last 12 months in India as of February 2021, a majority of respondents spent less on their monthly fuel due to work from home and limited commute.
In May 2020, the government introduced the COVID-19 related excise duty and road infrastructure cess to make up for the loss of revenue.
