In May 2021, four out of five restaurant and bar owners or managers surveyed in Brazil said that they were struggling to pay federal taxes due to the COVID-19 impact on the foodservice sector. Nearly half of the entrepreneurs interviewed also claimed to be unable to pay salaries that month, whereas ** percent owed the establishment's rent.
