Robberies were the type of property crime that decreased the least in El Salvador in 2020, in comparison to the previous year. During the onset year of the COVID-19 pandemic, 16.4 percent fewer robbery cases were reported to the Salvadoran police. In turn, the crime against property that registered the largest decrease was theft or robbery of vehicles transporting goods, with an almost 60 percent drop.
