The Pro License can be given to people who are at least 15 years old and have finished compulsory education. The Junior License can be given to people who are younger than 15 but eligible for a Pro License. The Team License can be given to teams with a corporate status.

The Japan eSports Union (JeSU) counted *** players with a Japan eSports Pro License as of November 2024. In addition, one person held a Junior License. JeSU is a governing body for eSports in Japan that was established in 2018 via a merger of the Japan e-Sports Association, the eSports Promotion Organization, and the Japan eSports Federation.
