The highest value of works of art, collectors' pieces, and antiques exported from the United Kingdom (UK) mainly concern non-EU trade. As of , the value of artworks exported to non-EU countries amounted to roughly *** million British pounds, while exports to the EU reached approximately ** million. As of , the United Kingdom officially left the European Union. The increase in the EU exports' value recorded during the first months of 2021 over the last months of 2020 might be explained because HMRC changed its way to measure exports to the EU after Brexit, specifying that it is not possible to directly compare figures for 2021 with data previously released. As the United Kingdom is no longer part of the EU single market, all UK exports to the EU must be strictly recorded.
