The testing phase of the electronic payment method Pix started in Brazil in October 2020. It allows instant money transfer between bank accounts in that country by using the so-called Pix keys. Each person or company with a bank account in Brazil can register their id number, email address, and/or telephone number as a Pix key. It is also possible to register a random, alphanumeric Pix key automatically created by the Central Bank of Brazil (BCB, as abbreviated in Portuguese).
