Health related occupations are expected to experience the highest employment growth in Sweden over the next decade. The occupation with the highest employment growth will be health associate professionals. Between 2021 and 2030, it is expected that this occupation will grow by 4.5 percent, while the profession of health professionals is forecast to grow by 3.2 percent. The employment growth of administrative and commercial managers is expected to increase by 4.1 percent.

Growing number of health professionals

All in all, it is expected that the number of health professionals will increase by about 89 thousand people between 2021 and 2030. The number of health associate professionals will also increase with about 37 thousand employees during that time period. Considering job openings, it is estimated that there will be about 225 thousand available job positions for health professionals until 2030.

The health sector

Despite a growing number of health professionals in Sweden, the health sector is not expected to grow significantly. In fact, the sectors with the highest employment growth will be optical and electronic equipment as well as air transport. In terms of employment change, however, the health sector is expected to experience the third highest employment change of over 56 thousand jobs between 2021 and 2030.
