The source adds the following information: "Respondents were selected using a multi-stage stratification proportionate to population size. Stratification was based on three stages: a proportional division among Tunisia’s 24 governorates; proportional division of urban and rural categories; and proportional division by gender and age group according to the most up-to-date data from Tunisia’s National Statistics Institute collected in 2014. The sample was then post-weighted to make it proportionate to national representation by governorate, as well as adjusted for gender and age."

As of October 2020, a large ** percent of the surveyed population in Tunisia believed that poverty or necessity were the greatest causes of corruption in the country. Moreover, ** percent and ** percent of respondents deemed the government and business leaders and oligarchs, respectively, the main ones responsible for corruption.

Similar to other countries in the Middle East and North Africa, corruption is widespread in Tunisia. It usually takes the form of bribery and extortion and is worsened by nepotism and crony capitalism. In 2019, most Tunisians believed that the levels of corruption have augmented since the 2011 Revolution.
