In 2022, the largest number of employees hired in the FMCG industry came from the meat processing and manufacturing, and food sectors. The meat sector employed over * people, and the other food product sector employed over * people. However, when it comes to gross monthly salary in the FMCG industry, vegetable and animal oils and fats, tobacco, and beverages manufacturers were the best paid in 2022. They earned on average between and  zloty gross per month. In 2023, the food market led the FMCG industry with nearly ** billion U.S. dollars in revenue. Alcoholic drinks generated a revenue of approximately **** billion U.S. dollars, while non-alcoholic drinks revenues reached over *** billion U.S. dollars in 2023.

COVID-19 impact on FMCG market

The outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has contributed to increased demand for Poland’s fast-moving consumer goods. At the beginning of 2020, the FMCG shopping basket increased by ** percent compared to the previous year. At that time, antibacterial gel and rice reached the highest sales. In March 2020, just after the coronavirus outbreak, customers felt a lack of products in shops such as pasta, groats, rice, flour, sugar, and meat. Due to the pandemic, nearly half of Poles were afraid of food shortages in stores and rising food prices.
