The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic had a huge impact on the professional sports industry. Many leagues were canceled and tournaments across the world were postponed. Eventually, some leagues were able to start up again under strict hygiene regulations and often in front of little or no crowd. During a March 2021 survey in the United States, some 39 percent of respondents stated that have the ability to watch sports on TV during the pandemic had a positive impact on the health of most Americans.
