Perceptions on vaccines against COVID-19 in Africa 2020
The majority of Africa's population would take a vaccine against the coronavirus (COVID-19). Nearly ** percent of Africans surveyed were willing to take the immunization, once it is considered safe and effective. On the other hand, ** percent believed a COVID-19 vaccine would be unsafe, while ** percent untrust vaccination in general.
Over *** million confirmed cases of COVID-19 were registered in Africa as of January 20, 2021. The African Union has secured *** million doses of coronavirus vaccines to the continent, while *** million are to be made available via the World Health Organization-backed Covax scheme. Furthermore, few countries, such as South Africa, Morocco, Egypt, Mauritius, and Seychelles, are doing their own deals to promote vaccination.
