As of March 06, 2022, the cumulative number of coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths in the southernmost region of Africa amounted to 108,263. South Africa, the most affected country in the continent, recorded 91.9 percent of the total deaths in the sub-region, adding up to 99,543 casualties. Furthermore, Namibia and Botswana recorded 4,013 and 2,619 deaths, respectively, while Eswatini and Lesotho registered 1,391 and 697 casualties each.
