In 2020, the Polish government had plans to introduce a sugar tax. As of January ***, 2021, the new tax officially came into effect. This action resulted in more Poles perceiving the taxation of sweetened beverages substances other than sugar negatively rather than positively. However, those who did think of it as a positive thing mainly did so as they believed the taxation would lead to reduced consumption of sweetened drinks.
