The majority of raw materials used for biofuel production in Germany originate in Europe. In 2018, nearly ** petajoules worth of cereal crops and wastes from Europe were used for bioethanol and biodiesel production for the German consumer market. Asia followed as the second largest source region, mainly due to palm oil use as a raw material in biodiesel.
