The industrial sector is the largest end user of electricity in Canada. In 2022, the industrial sector had an electricity demand of terawatt-hours, accounting for almost ** percent of the total demand that year. It was the only sector that had seen a demand decline since 2005. By comparison, Canadian households consumed some terawatt-hours in 2021. Canada's total electricity demand amounted to terawatt-hours that same year.
