The power sector in Spain emitted 167 grams of carbon dioxide per kilowatt-hour (gCO2/KWh) of electricity generated in 2020. This sectors carbon intensity is expected to drop considerably in the coming decades. Projections show that in 2050, Spain's power sector will emit an estimated 37 gCO2/KWh. In this same year, carbon emissions from Spain's energy sector are expected to total 9.9 million metric tons.
