In 2018, nearly **** million quintals of meat were produced in Algeria. Red and white meat accounted for approximately half of the production each. A similar distribution was observed in the two previous years. However, while red meat production decreased by 2018, white meat registered a constant increment.
Meat production in Algeria is insufficient to meet the increasingly higher demand, that is why meat is imported in large quantities into the country.
