In 2020, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic dramatically hit the tourism sector worldwide, as governments had to restrict non-essential travels to limit the spread of the virus. As of the third quarter of 2020, the revenue of the travel accommodation sector in Italy decreased by **** percent, compared to the same period of 2019. In particular, the sanitary emergency had a major impact on hotel facilities than non-hotel accommodations. Between June and August 2020, the revenue of hotels in Italy dropped by almost ** percent compared to the previous year.
