Over the past few years, some of France's largest banks kept increasing their financing to companies which are involved in the life cycle of fossil fuels. However, focusing on a key fossil fuels subsector, it appears that those banks also kept allowing unrestricted financing for companies producing and expanding oil and gas offshore. For instance, the funding granted by the BNP Paribas to this type of company had at least tripled between 2018 and 2019.
