In 2008, almost ** visitors came to the Mount Kumgang Tourist Region in North Korea on a tour from South Korea. The tours were suspended when a South Korean tourist passed away after being shot by a North Korean soldier in July 2008. While the South Korean program has been suspended, international visitors can still travel to the region by visiting North Korea.
