Domestic tourism compensated for international shortfalls, as overnight local traveler numbers exceeded pre-pandemic volume in 2024 thanks to affordable flights and transport. Expanded accommodation options, particularly outside traditional tourism spots, further propelled growth. Domestic tourism spending also rebounded, especially in miscellaneous services such as health and wellness.

Rebranding with 鈥淟ove the Philippines鈥

The Department of Tourism (DOT) replaced its 鈥淚t鈥檚 More Fun in the Philippines鈥 slogan with the broader 鈥淟ove the Philippines鈥 campaign in 2023, aiming to present the country as a destination defined by heartfelt hospitality. The DOT also launched the Philippines Travel app, featuring curated regional recommendations and listings of accredited tour operators and guides. New digital nomad visas, planned for July 2025, and VAT-free shopping seek to attract long-stay tourists and remote workers. However, concerns about travel safety and the decline in Chinese arrivals鈥攑artly due to the closure of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO)鈥攑ose challenges to future growth.
