New registrations of battery electric vehicles decreased by around *** percent to reach some *** million units, while diesel and plug-in hybrid electric registrations also slumped. As of 2024, some **** percent of newly registered passenger cars in the European Union were running on diesel, and **** percent were fueled by petrol.
