Given the importance that every prison system has for the country's security and the population's feeling of safety, it is not surprising that the allocated budget for the Romanian penitentiary system has constantly been increasing since 2010. The highest increase was registered in 2024, when over 2.5 billion Romanian lei were subsidies and 141.6 million Romanian lei were from the own revenue. The final budget for 2024 amounted to over 2.68 billion Romanian lei.
