Lockdowns to halt the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) virus has seen populations and industries the world over come to a virtual standstill. Because of these lockdowns daily activities have changed, resulting in a fall in emissions. It is estimated that by the end of April 2020, global emissions had fallen by MtCO2e.
The biggest drop in emissions was observed in China, where the virus originated from. Estimates suggest emissions fell by *** MtCO2e between January and April 2020.
