Indeed, the rates of forced admission in psychiatric hospitals located in Brussels-Capital were significantly higher than in Flanders or Wallonia. In Belgium, forced admissions in psychiatric hospitals are subject to strict conditions. Forced admission can be applied during a psychic episode where the patient is considered to be a danger for himself or society. On the other hand, involuntary admissions can also reveal a mental health system that can't provide alternative care methods to more complex patients.
