In 2018, half of the patients who consulted one of Flander's twenty mental health centers initially went there because of depression. On the other hand, ** percent of patients consulted under the motive of having fears and phobias and **** percent said they struggled with stress. In mental health, an initial complaint is the main reason why a person is consulting. Although the initial complaint may not lead to a future diagnosis, figures support the prevalence of depression and anxiety in Belgium.
