In a survey conducted in December 2019, close to ** percent of both Japanese male and female respondents agreed that the Tokyo 2020 Olympics would increase their personal interest in health promotion. With another approximately ** percent of males and ** percent of females somewhat agreeing to the statement, more than ** percent of each gender foresaw a positive impact of the 2020 Olympics on their own health consciousness.
The Summer Olympics were scheduled to take place between 24 July and 9 August in 2020, being held for the second time in the Japanese capital.
