According to a study conducted in the ** of 2019, ** percent of households in Spain had an SVOD subscription, compared to just ** percent which were subscribed to a pay TV service. For the United States and the United Kingdom, the share of households subscribed to one service or the other was similar, whilst more than double the share of households in Australia used SVOD than pay TV. The source notes that SVOD is now the default video consumption service for many countries around the globe, though pay TV did have a higher penetration rate than SVOD in the Netherlands, Sweden, and Canada.
