From 2016 to 2024, the music streaming revenue in Hungary showed a rising trend, growing from *** million to over ** billion forints. Over the observed period, the revenue from streaming international music peaked in 2024 at nearlybillion forints, compared to *** million forints recorded in 2016.

All generations stream music

While a couple of years ago music streaming was only typical among younger people, nowadays all generations of Hungarians listen to music via streaming platforms. In 2022, ** percent of Hungarians between the ages of 18 to 29 years streamed music on a weekly basis, while, in the age group of 30 to 39-year-olds, this figure totaled ** percent. Moreover, nearly ** percent of 50 to 59-year-old Hungarians used music streaming services weekly.

Hungarian men prefer YouTube Music

In 2022, approximately ** percent of Hungarian men and ** percent of women used YouTube Music, making it the most popular music streaming platform. In the case of Spotify users, there was not such a notable difference between genders, as it was used by ** percent of men and ** percent of women. At the same time, SoundCloud, Apple Music, and Deezer were more popular among women.
