The demand for exhaust gas cleaning systems (EGCS) for ships increased between 2007 and 2020, following the global cap on sulfur emissions coming into force on January 1, 2020. While there was *** vessel fitted with scrubbing systems in 2007, it is estimated that their number surpassed units in 2020. The number of ships fitted with EGCS is projected to increase only marginally in the coming years, reaching vessels in 2023.
