According to provisional data, Rotterdam held 83 accommodations in 2020. Whilst most of them were hotel accommodations, the harbor city also had holiday homes and three camping sites. Although the number of hotel accommodations decreased to the lowest volume in the period between 2015 and 2020, the umber of registered hotel guests increasedn. In 2012, Rotterdam counted just over one million hotel guests, whereas by 2018 it grew to approximately 1.73 million.
Majority of the hotel guests were domestic tourists
In 2018, the most hotel guests in Rotterdam were Dutch. However, another large share of tourists was German, Belgian and British as well. 670,000 came from the Netherlands, whereas hotels registered 94,000 from Germany and 74,000 from Belgium and the United Kingdom, respectively. In addition, 76 thousand guests came either from the United-States, Taiwan, or China.
Average price increased annually
The average price per night of hotels in Rotterdam increased annually between the period of 2017 to 2019. In 2017, tourists had to pay on average 100 euros per night, which increased with four euros in the following year. It is forecasted that this will grow to a total of 110 euros on average per night in 2019.
