According to a survey conducted in November 2019 among locals of the 47 prefectures in Japan, around ** percent of residents in Iwate claimed to be using daily necessities more sparingly following the consumption tax increase to *** percent in October of the same year. In contrast, the majority of residents in Niigata, Mie and Nara stated to have not changed their consumption behavior, with only percent reducing their expenses on everyday items.
