This statistic displays the findings of a survey on the perceptions of identity theft (somebody stealing your personal data and impersonating you) in the European Union (EU), as of 2018. During the survey period, it was found that 70 percent of respondents stated that they consider identity theft as a very serious crime, while three percent of respondents believe it to be a minor crime.
