Global corporate debt from bonds issued by non-financial private companies reached **** trillion U.S. dollars in 2019, up from around *** trillion just before the global financial crisis of 2008. While the majority of this debt originates from developed economies, the bonds issued by nonfinancial companies in emerging markets grew much faster, increasing by *** percent over this period.
