*The survey was conducted for the fifth time this year to see the improvement in the state of cleanliness in the country. It was started in October 2014. Not all respondents answered the question.

According to a survey conducted in 2019, about ** percent of respondents believed that their municipality was not responsive to complaints on neighborhood cleanliness. On the other hand, ** percent of respondents thought otherwise. A gradual increase in the responsiveness of municipality to complaints on garbage collection, waste disposal and street cleaning was observed over the years. Launched for the period between 2014 and 2019, the Swachh Bharat Mission is a campaign in India that aims to clean up the streets, roads and infrastructure of the country's cities, smaller towns, and rural areas.
