*The survey was conducted for the fifth time this year to see the improvement in the state of cleanliness in the country. It was stared in October 2014. Not all respondents answered the question.

According to a survey conducted in 2019, about ** percent of respondents observed specific waste such as plastic, hazardous or construction debris dumped with regular municipal waste. Designated disposal sites for construction and demolition waste was absent in their locality. However, a gradual improvement in the neighborhood was observed by ** percent of respondents at the end of the fifth year of Swachh Bharat initiative. The Swachh Bharat Mission is a campaign in India that aims to clean up the streets, roads and infrastructure of India's cities, smaller towns, and rural areas.
