The 2024 budget of the epidemiological surveillance of the Secretariat of Health in Mexico amounted to 431 million Mexican pesos, representing an increase compared to the previous year. During the swine flu epidemic of 2009, the budget amounted to 2.16 billion pesos and the epidemic was partly combated with the Catastrophic Expenditures Fund of the Public Insurance. In 2024, Mexico invested approximately 5.9 percent of its GDP in healthcare.
