Microsoft is still a dominant player on the operating server market within the public domain segment. Windows Server 2012 had the biggest share in 2017, with a total market share of roughly ** percent, closely followed by Windows Server 2008 that was used by ** percent of the companies. Linux made up for roughly fifteen percent of the total OS market within the public domain sector, which includes all of the variations that Linux comes in.
