In 2024, the total energy subsidies in Indonesia were targeted at trillion Indonesian rupiah. About ** percent of the energy subsidies in Indonesia derived from fossil fuel subsidies. Indonesia remains to subsidize fossil fuels such as diesel, kerosene, LPG, and coal-fired electricity. For Indonesia to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030, the National Planning and Development Agency (BAPPENAS) has already proposed for a 100 percent reduction in fuel subsidies which will be coupled with a carbon tax.
