During the marketing year 2025/2026, Brazil was the leading global orange producer, with production volume of about 13.5 million metric tons. That year, the global production volume of fresh oranges amounted to about 45.9Â million metric tons.
Oranges are one of the most produced fruits worldwide, but there are many other types of popular citrus fruits. Some of these include grapefruit, tangerines, clementines, lemons, and limes, among others. In 2023, Asia was the largest producer of citrus fruit worldwide, producing about 89.4 million metric tons of citrus.
China produced just under 68 million metric tons of citrus in 2024, meaning that China was responsible for about 75 percent of all the citrus produced in Asia that year. Not all the fruit produced in China in used domestically. A significant amount of fruit is exported from China each year, ranging from four to seven billion U.S. dollars’ worth of product.
