In Mexico, tacos are so present on the local eating culture that in 2016, taco and tortas restaurants accounted for 22 percent of restaurants in the country. In 2018, the time of the day in which people preferred to eat tacos was at dinner, with almost half of the respondents declaring they enjoyed their tacos during that meal. Lunch was the second most popular time for eating tacos, with close to 40 percent of respondents declaring that they liked eating their tacos at that time.
