**% of respondents (aged 18 to 64) in Poland consulted a family doctor in the past 12 months of 2020, while another **% of the consumers underwent a medical checkup during this period. Comparably few consumers consulted an alternative practitioner during this period.

State of health in Poland
Diseases of the circulatory system are the leading cause of death in Poland. They include heart attacks, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. An average person in Poland is expected to live for about 78 years at the time of birth, a figure that has increased continuously over the past 12 years. However, this is still one of the lowest life expectancy rates in Europe while residents of Spain and Italy live the longest.

Dissatisfaction with healthcare
Even though many of them consult their family doctor at least once a year, most of the Polish respondents aren’t satisfied with healthcare in their country. They feel that the Polish healthcare system frequently lets patients down and one must pay too much for medical treatment. The total expenditure on healthcare amounts to ***% of Poland’s GDP which is one of the lowest as compared to many other countries around the globe.
