The National Rifle Association (NRA) is one of the best-known lobbying groups in the United States for its efforts in convincing lawmakers of the benefits of liberal gun laws. Data collected by the shows that even with self-professed pro-gun rights President Donald Trump in office, the NRA has spent liberally on lobbying its cause. While in 2016 the association spent $3.19 million, expenditure was $5.08 million in 2018, slightly lower than the record $5.12 million in 2017. That figure fell back to pre-Trump levels in 2019 but still remains above the $3 million mark.
