TUI AG - statistics and facts
What is TUI’s most profitable market?
Despite being headquartered in Germany, TUI’s most profitable market is the so-called Northern region, which includes tour operator activities and airlines in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the Nordics. In 2024, this business segment accounted for almost 40 percent of the company’s global revenue and reported the second-largest number of TUI customers. Within the Northern region, Great Britain is by far the most important market for the group, recording more TUI employees than Germany. What are TUI’s main competitors?
With over 300 outlets in the UK, TUI is one of the travel agencies with the highest number of establishments in the United Kingdom, together with Hays Travel and Advantage. Given TUI’s strong presence in the country, it comes as no surprise that the company was one of the main brands for package holiday bookings in the United Kingdom in 2024, ranking just behind Jet2 Holidays. While TUI topped the list of brands for package holiday bookings in Germany, ahead of Alltours and Ab-in-den-Urlaub, it was not as popular in other key European tourism markets. When asked about the providers used for booking package holidays in Spain, just three percent of surveyed Spaniards mentioned TUI, while a third of the sample relied on Viajes El Corte Inglés and roughly a quarter on eDreams. Breaking into these key markets to a greater extent would be a huge help in further consolidating the company’s leading position in the global travel agency industry.
