Mexico is a key market for the print media segment in Latin America, second only to Brazil in terms of revenues. However, in 2021, the newspaper industry's revenue, largely impacted by the outbreak of COVID-19 in year prior, stood just above 6.4 billion Mexican pesos, representing an annual decrease of close to 20 percent. For a while the boom in reading digital newspapers showed promise for the industry but the latest figures indicate this hope was premature.
