The United States has the largest oil refinery throughput in the world. In 2024, refineries in the U.S. handled over  million barrels of crude oil every day. When compared to 1990, this represented an increase of roughly ***percent. By comparison, daily throughput in Chinese refineries increased from **** million in 1990 to **** million in 2024.
