Steel and metal export trading in the UK - Statistics & Facts
The steel and metal industry contributes significantly to the United Kingdom's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and overall international trade. Various produced British steel find their consumers in the global metal market. Specifically, India, the Netherlands, and Turkey were leading buyers in 2023. However, after Brexit, the UK had difficulty selling its steel to global importers due to increased tariffs, customs checks, and bureaucratical procedures.
